Venue of the week: Tobacco Dock

Just a stone’s throw from the buzzing centres of London’s tech, media and financial districts stands one of the city’s most breath-taking events venues.

Tobacco Dock boasts the status of being a Grade One listed building, putting it in the same category as other architectural wonders such as Westminster Palace, Blackpool Tower and Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge. The ground floor of Tobacco Dock is flooded with natural light, illuminating the beautiful timber beams and exposed brickwork, whilst the Vaults level below consists of gorgeous Victorian walkways, barrel vaulted ceilings and a number of small courtyards.

As equally impressive as the venue’s authentic beauty is its sheer size and convenience. Just a fifteen-minute walk from Tower Hill on the circle line, and only one DLR stop from Bank, the 16,000 square metre site of Tobacco Dock offers over 40 flexible event spaces available for hire individually or together. And don’t let the age of the brickwork fool you, this unique environment is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technologies and services – old dogs can learn new tricks!

Aside from being home to one of London’s most technologically advanced IT structures, the venue works with a plethora of expert suppliers – audio visual, event design and production – who are happy to assist you in creating your experience. Not to mention Tobacco Dock Food, the award winning inhouse catering team as equally capable of blowing you away with formal sit-down banquets as with their remarkable street food feasts.

Tobacco Dock has hosted a wide variety of events consisting of festivals, expositions and launches, never failing to impress. 2018 has seen both London Craft Beer Festival and Junipalooza, the biggest gin party in all of the capital, relocate to Tobacco Dock for their annual celebration. Gaming and tech events have also utilised the venue, with British Academy Games Awards holding their ceremony there in 2017. We’re already looking forward to the host of events Tobacco Dock has planned for Christmas 2018!

Alongside Tobacco Dock and its events and exhibitions is a dynamic coworking space simply named The Dock. Offering desk space, work space and meeting space it is ideal for businesses and companies of all sizes and is home to a rich and diverse community of business entrepreneurs. These offices and meeting rooms occupying Tobacco Dock’s vaults are available for hire at competitive rates. With meeting rooms able to accommodate up to 120 people these spaces have been used for board meetings, product launches and training seminars.

But at some point the work must stop and playtime begins, right? That certainly is the attitude at Skylight London, the rooftop bar of Tobacco Dock. Everything about this bar revolves around fun. In summertime you can enjoy the croquet and petanque courts, whilst in the winter it becomes Europe’s only rooftop ice rink. You read correct, a rooftop ice rink! Right now, it is HarvestFest season at Skylight, with golden sunsets, autumn inspired cocktails as well as games consisting of horseshoe throwing and urban pallet skittles. As in every other way that this is unlike most other rooftop bars, entry to Skylight is free!

With a number of high-profile clients and a shelf full of prestigious awards, Tobacco Dock is a must visit venue for Event Planners in 2018!
