Okiem, Eight Ray Music’s immensely talented pianist and composer, recently won ‘Best Album’ at the Black British Entertainment Awards for his debut album, Xiro.

It follows on from a highly successful 2017 for Okiem in which his hit Fifty Horses from Xiro was used in a Range Rover advert and performances of his original compositions garnered widespread acclaim.

At the Black British Entertainment Awards, Okiem fought off competition from a number of incredibly talented artists to win Best Album, with the likes of Michael Kiwanuka and Denai Moore nominated in the same category.

Kiwanuka, who has previously been nominated for the Mercury Prize, was also nominated for a Brit Award for his latest album Love & Hate, as well as winning Best Album for it at the Worldwide Awards.

Having beaten such esteemed names we’re incredibly excited to see what 2018 holds in-store for Okiem.
